På Ydre Østerbro i Københavns Klimakvarter ligger tagfarmen ØsterGRO på 3. sal i Æbeløgade 4.  

Siden første spadestik i 2014, er det 600 m2 store bylandbrug ikke blot blevet kendt i lokalområdet, men også langt udenfor Danmarks grænser som et fællesskabende taglandbrug og en velbesøgt drivhusrestaurant, der sætter fokus på lokal økologi og skaber jordforbindelse i hovedstaden.  

Tagfarmen ØsterGRO står for en enestående formidling om økologi, bæredygtighed og vejen fra jord til bord som et unikt lærings- og inspirationssted med grøntsagsdyrkning, høns og bier.

ØsterGRO bliver flittigt brugt som eksempel på Københavns og Danmarks grønne visioner og har over 20.000 besøgende årligt.

Tagfarmen har i de sidste to år forhandlet frem og tilbage med Københavns Kommune med ansøgning om permanent byggetilladelse og lovliggørelse af ØsterGRO.   

I bygningen hvor ØsterGro har til huse, har der tidligere været et bilauktionshus. Den gang holdt der biler, maskiner og andre køretøjer på taget, men tagfladen har kun haft funktion som 'showroom' og aldrig som parkeringsareal.   

Problemet er, at Københavns Kommune kræver, at der er 29 p-pladser på den matrikel, som ØsterGRO er en del af, og 23 af dem er indtegnet og godkendt på tagfladen.

Men der har aldrig reelt været p-pladser på taget af Æbeløgade 4.  

Den eneste måde man kan leve op til kommunens krav, er enten at finde p-pladserne andetsteds på egen matrikel eller finde såkaldte overskuds p-pladser i nabolaget og få dem tinglyst på matriklen.

Det er en umulig opgave at finde overskuds p-pladser i det tæt bebyggede Sankt Kjelds Kvarter. 

Vi frygter derfor, at Københavns Kommune's afgørelse, som forventeligt falder inden jul vil kræve, at ØsterGro skal fjernes.

Vi har fuld forståelse for, at regler skal overholdes, og at parkeringspladser i København er en mangelvare, men at fjerne ØsterGRO, giver ikke - og vil aldrig give - Østerbro og København flere parkeringspladser, men blot efterlade et tomt tag på en privat bygning med en gammel udtjent bilelevator.  

ØsterGRO beder derfor om din hjælp til at råbe vores politikere op. Hvis vi som hovedstad og land mener det alvorligt, når der tales om den grønne omstilling, giver det absolut ingen mening at kræve en vidunderlig tagfarm fjernet på grund af 23 parkeringspladser, som aldrig har eksisteret.

Denmark's first rooftop farm ØsterGRO is threatened with closure, because of 23 fictional parking spaces.

Copenhagen’s Østerbro district houses the rooftop farm ØsterGRO, located on the 3rd floor at Æbeløgade 4. Since breaking ground in 2014, this 600 m2 of urban agriculture has become known, not only in the local area but also far beyond Denmark's borders.

ØsterGro is a community rooftopfarm and a popular greenhouse restaurant that focuses on local organic produce and creates a powerful connection, right in the center of the city.

Along with the fact that ØsterGro, through tours, workshops and presentations for everyone from local school children to foreign government leaders, has helped to brand Copenhagen and Denmark as being green, visionary and innovative, the rooftop farm has been negotiating back and forth over the past two years with the municipality of Copenhagen, applying for permanent building permission and legalization of ØsterGRO.

The building that houses ØsterGro, was previously a car auction house. At that time cars, machines and other vehicles were parked on the roof, only functioning as a showroom and never as a parking lot.

The problem is that the municipality of Copenhagen demands 29 available parking spaces on the property which ØsterGRO is a part of, and that 23 of these are prearranged and approved, on the rooftop’s surface. However, there has never actually been public parking spaces at the rooftop.

The only way to live up to the demands held by the municipality is to either create or find the required parking spaces elsewhere on the property, or to find so-called surplus parking spaces in the neighborhood and have them proclaimed to be assigned to the property. It is an impossible task to find surplus parking spaces in the densely populated area that surrounds the rooftop farm.

Because of this we fear that the municipality of Copenhagen will announce a deadline for the removal of ØsterGro.

We fully understand and respect the fact that rules must be followed, and that parking spaces in Copenhagen are limited, but to remove ØsterGro, does not - and never will, supply Østerbro and Copenhagen with more parking spaces.

It will only create an empty roof on a private building with a worn-out car-lift to be left behind and forgotten.

We therefore ask for the help from everyone that cares for ØsterGro and the value to Copenhagen that it provides! You can do this by shouting out to our politicians. If they are being frank when they talk about the green transition, it makes absolutely no sense, to demand that this unique example of exactly that shall be removed because of 23 fictional parking spaces.
