Petition against the political influence of the Danish People's Party on DR

In the new contract between DR and the government, the Danish People's Party has clearly had a great influence on the changes that have been made. Their agenda is presented through a massive focus on Christianity, and how it is the root of "traditional Danish values," and Danish democracy.

"Kristendom" and "den kristne kulturarv" are mentioned 5-6 times in the contract. According to the spokesperson of the Danish People's Party, DR should not take part in anything related to Islam, as this is considered directly "un-Danish" and directly against Danish values in all cases.

Denmark today is hardly influenced much by Christianity. Sure, some people still go to church, but not many. Most are "kultur-kristne," which means that we like the traditions of Christmas and Easter, but for most, it has nothing to do with religion. We just like to hygge.

As a Dane, and as a person, I was horrified to read the contract between the government and DR. They state that DR should be absolutely objective and not take any political stands; but that is exactly what this contract is trying to do.

My objective with this petition is to

1) open people's eyes to how much influence and power the Danish People's Party is gaining, and how this affects our society and threatens our open, welcoming, just, equal, democratic society

2) expose how that the government (largely controlled by DF, due to the fact that they want their votes) is attempting to unnoticed implement their political agenda into the national television network

3) make DR and the government CHANGE the way they CHOOSE to present DF's excluding values and their version of "Danish culture" as if it is the ABSOLUTE truth!

A few quotes from the article on thelocal.dk:

"The new contract states that DR’s programming must make it clear that “(Danish) society is based on democracy and has its roots in Christianity”.

A sentence from the previous contract, stipulating that DR “must work for the promotion of integration in Danish society” has, meanwhile, been cut from the new agreement, replaced with a different line which says that “DR must work to promote a Denmark based on community, built on values of democracy, equality and free speech”.

Those changes can be traced to the influence of the anti-immigration Danish People’s Party (DF), according to the party’s own media spokesperson Morten Marinus (...).

DR must still work to promote integration, but they have also misused the interpretation of it, because they hosted an Eid celebration. DR should not be the co-organiser of an Eid celebration. We don’t think that’s part of the public service remit,” he told Politiken.

(...) Opposition parties have criticised the wording of the new agreement and noted DF's sway over it. ..."
